Medicom Be@rbricks - Bringing you creepy lego bears since 2001

Japanese company MediCom has released a new set of its Be@rbricks - weird little lego-bear-men that you (play with? stack? pose? stare at you creepily from your nightstand?) collect with lots of different designs on them.
Look at all the choices you have: terminator-bear, spongebob-bear, hello kitty-bear, ren-bear, tetris-bear,india..bear?
Then you got your boring ones: purple-bear, red/translucent-bear, ironic t-shirt-bear. Why would anyone want these?

Also, I know they’re Japanese, so they can be somewhat forgiven for engrish and whatnot, but seriously, whats up with ironic t-shirt-bear? Japanese Gentlement Stand up Please? Its like they translated eminem lyrics to Japanese, and then translated it back to english, and this is the strange result. Oh Japan, even your ironic tees are polite.

Edit - ok, so I went and did more research (read wikipedia) and it turns out that there are like 20 sets of these bears, each with different designs and what not. Even some collaboration designs by famous artists and whatnot. Whats the deal? These are just stupid bear-lego minifigs right? They got basic bears, horror bears, jelly-bean bears, sci-fi bears. My goodness, there was even a kill bill bear.

Ok, so it turns out that you’re supposed to collect these things. Since they are never re-released, and when you buy them, you’re actually buying a box of like 15 random bears, people go crazy trying to find the few bears to complete their horrid collection. It even says on the box that they’re adult collector items and are reccommended for kids 15 and up - cause you know, anyone younger might swallow a bear and have its dispraportionalty huge head get caught in their throats and choke them to death.
