New Moon, the second part of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga to arrive on the massive screen, has had something of a bumpy ride getting here. First up there was the issue of Edward Cullen, portrayed in the films by heart-throb Robert Pattinson, and therefore the restricted amount of time he’s really in the second book, and then there was the issue of the lawsuit filed by an previous college space-mate of Meyer’s, who was claiming alleged plagiarism against the Twilight author.
The cast and crew carried on though, and the result of their labours has rapidly become an enormously big hit across the planet. Edward is seen during the show in a manner that could appear a touch cheesy, however then, this is the Twilight range, and cheese is no stranger to it. That said, the show has been obtaining a lot of higher reviews than the first entry in the range, that was not welcomed by many critics and condemned for some of the somewhat uncomfortable facets of the link involving a century-old vampire and a teenage girl.
It would appear that the creators of the Twilight films across at Summit Entertainment listened to the practical criticism of some reviews (and ignored the rants of those that hated it) and have crafted a much better show this point round. Their born fruit, and predictions of the show being a massive hit have proven to be spot on. Fans have been rushing to determine it, and therefore the New Moon merchandise arena is awash withnew-found items for fans to accumulate.
The series of New Moon merchandise appears a very little classier than what has gone before for franchises like Harry Potter, because the books that all of this stems from are aimed at a completely different demographic; namely kids in their early to mid teens, instead of youngsters upwards. This is why some aspects of the merchandising, like the Twilight and New Moon replica jewellery, is showing to be such a sturdy seller.
It is also attention-grabbing that other New Moon merchandise items like posters, calendars, bookmarks and others of their ilk are therefore widespread with devotees, along with special editions of the books themselves, as this is rather completely different to the manner that things usually go together with show merchandise.
The special editions of the Twilight novels are literally seen as collector’s items to many devotees, with these Twilight special editions staying untouched on shelves or still in packaging whereas their well-thumbed paperback editions are often enjoyed. The audience is thrilled with the newest show, even though many critics are again pulling it apart. That’s a sign of something with a terribly sturdy fanbase indeed, and it can actually continue when ‘Eclipse’, the third Twilight show in the range, arrives.
